Since April 1988, Coconut Beach Volleyball Complex has served as the home of sand volleyball in the New Orleans region. Made of twenty-two courts and 100,000 square feet of outdoor man-made beach, Coconut Beach Sand Sports Complex is the largest sand volleyball complex in the United States and serves thousands of players a week participating in organized leagues, tournaments and events. Coconut Beach was established in New Orleans in 1988, located in the West End area on a underfunded NORD playground in a Cooperative Endeavor Agreement with the City of New Orleans. After Hurricane Katrina the Army Corps of Engineers appropriated the property for the construction of the new 17th Street Canal Pumping Station. After an exhausting search, the City of Kenner provided property, in a Cooperative Endeavor Agreement, for the relocation of the Coconut Beach Volleyball Complex. The increased portion of land allowed the facility to open its doors to additional sports introducing sand soccer and dodgeball to the Greater New Orleans area. This expansion led to the new title of Coconut Beach Sand Sports Complex.

TITAN’S TOURNAMENT TIPS (RULES):

COACHING & PARENTS:

Parents & Coaches are NOT ALLOWED to 'coach', or call out scores, time outs, suggest water breaks, or interfere with play in anyway.   Players are competing in the tournament, NOT coaches & parents!

Coaches are ONLY permitted to speak to their team during SIDE CHANGES & TIME OUTS.  Coaches may walk along the sideline speaking to their team during side changes.

Any coach or parent who interferes with plays, a game OR appears to be intimidating opposing team players in any way (on purpose or not)will be asked to leave the premises.

Parents are NOT allowed to address athletes during games or while they are reffing matches.

REFEREES:

Referees (teams assigned to ref games) are responsible for keeping & calling out the score AND making calls during the games.  Referees are expected to make appropriate& fair calls during games.  If you are not sure what that means or do not feel comfortable making calls on other(or older) players, please practice making calls with your coach/team prior to the tournament.  Referees are required to call out the score PRIOR TO each serve. If a player has a score dispute THAT is when it is addressed with the Referee (prior to the serve).  The only scores that count are the ones the Refs mark on the score sheet.  That is why it is important to make sure the score is correct BEFORE each serve.

PLAYERS:

Players are NOT allowed to stop a play, other than for an injury.  Only referees can stop a play! Players are expected to play out the entire play and politely address a bad or no call with the Ref AFTER the play.  Ifa team/player stops a play, they risk losing a point (or game) depending on what the Ref calls.

TOURNAMENT DIRECTOR:

The Tournament Directors reserves the right to adjust any component of tournament play.

PLAYER CONDUCT:

Any player, spectator, coach or parent displaying poor sportsmanship will be removed from the premises. (i.e.: yelling at refs/tournament officials/other players, kicking balls, cursing, threatening, physical violence or being generally obnoxious).

Titan Performance Events are structured to facilitate HEALTHY and REWARDING competition!

This allows the Players to play the game, respectfully; while the Referees ref, the Coaches watch, and the Parents cheer and support the athletes.
